It made sense to me, you're the new guy and no one knows you that well. I didn't feel particularly bad the first time I played it. It's not like they give you advance notice about the flower dance or that you might have an opportunity to dance with someone at that event. Maybe to encourage the player to explore the marriage candidates so they have someone to dance with in year 2? If the flower dance was in fall, honestly I don't think it would occurred to me the first time I played to ensure I had 4 hearts with one of them by then. so whats the point of having that event on the first year on the first season? to make the player feel bad?
